Pop up blinds in South Texas

I am thinking about getting a pop up blind for hunting in Val Verde County (near Del Rio) this year.  Has anyone had any experience with these in a rocky, windy area?  I do not bow hunt and will be using it primarily for dove and quail.

I have been using popups for deer for the past 3 years. I LOVE them. I go and find a scrape or a rub and pick the travel route and wait. I usally get a nice buck. I can honestly say I have never used it to duck, dove, or quail hunt. I shot turkey. I had the chance to shoot quail but never dove. My suggestion for dove is make sure it opens at the top. they are like a tent so just stake it down real good. They come with tie down rope. Good hunting! let us know how the whole dove hunting in a popup works out.

they work great

I have a relatively cheap one, Primos Ground Max Escape, like 119.00 from Cabelas

I have set it up and had deer come within 15 yards 30 minutes later

Starr county

We use them for our bow hunts and I haven't had any problem in our rockier areas.  Definitely take the time to make sure they're well staked though.  Not sure how you're doing the whole dove and quail thing though.

As long as it is not so windy that it makes a lot of noise it should work great for bowhunting. Not sure what you mean by Dove and Quail. Not needed for Dove and Quail is a walking thing. Also popular for Deer hunting in areas like that is a short tripod stand.

I could not understand why everyone was talking about dove hunting from a pop up blind.  I thought, "Who would want to try to shoot doves from inside a blind?"  Then I looked at my original post and it really did include dove hunting.  I have no idea why I put that there.  It should have said "deer and quail".  Sometimes my computer has a short between the keyboard and the chair.  Thanks for the responses.  I was hadicapped and could not hunt for 6 years and returned to hunting last year in Ozona.  I am looking forward to hunting Val Verde County this year and want to get all the edge i can on the game there.
