Plan trips for mallards. But lots of other ducks in area at right time.... Dove and quail and whitewings are the ticket in CC... And learn to fish if you don't already!! Welcome to Texas....

You also have some Sandhill Crane hunting around you, though you have to have a special permit for hunt them which you can get (I think) free from TWPD.  They're a big, tough bird with good eyesight - here's a guide service if you want to go that route.  I've never had it to eat but some of the folks I've talked to really love them. 

I was born and raised just outside of Corpus Christi, get ready to be in hunting and fishing paradise, hope you got plenty of spare time and pocket change because once you catch the fever, your not gonna want to stop.  the duck hunting is excellent down south of the JFK in the Laguna Madre or head north to Rockport for some good duck hunting.  But the fishing in Corpus is as good or better then anywhere else, get a boat or make friends with some one who has one and fish hard all year, REDS, Drum, Specks, flounder and not to mention the offshore species!!!

Ohh Cranes you say!? I'm definatly gonna have to do that. They're protected up here and there's alot of rediculous water laws around the Platte River cause of them. We have a saying here in Nebraska, "Save water, kill a crane." haha But seriously, I can't wait it sounds terrific and I'm am most definately looking forward to my first fishing trip in salt water!!

You will love the hunting and fishing around CC.  I grew up there and had easy access to ducks and deer.  Now I live in Houston and it sucks.

yeah i hear that mcoker. i just moved to houston from deep east texas. it is like night and day difference. there was places to hunt all over the place there, now everythin has a permit or you have to drive two hours to get there.
