I have been in Texas for 7 months now. Looking for some public land to turkey hunt on. I have been told LBJ Grasslands is a good spot. I live in the dallas area so not trying to go to far. I need help so if anyone is willing to point me in a good direction I would greatly be thankful

Hi Jonathan and welcome!

I've been told LBJ Grasslands is probably the best place near Dallas to hunt for turkey, as several of the guys that visit this board have done so.  But, since Texas doesn't have a lot of public land (90+% of Texas is privately owned) the hunting can be a challenge.  Texas Parks and Wildlife also has draw hunts, but these may be too far for you to travel.

I'm new also. Been doing ALOT of research on your exact question. This is what I have found: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/hunt/public/lands/

Go to that link, its all about Public Hunting lands. At the very bottom of the left hand column with links is one for a map. It shows you where the public lands are for hunting. Good luck!
