That's just north of Amarillo, isn't it?  I used to go just north-east of  Lubbock.  But all of the family I had there has either passed or moved out, and I have not had the opportunity to go since the last ones moved.  Thanks.

If anyone is familiar enough with the area and is willing, we should organize a group event for public land phez/quail.  It is so far that most of us do not want to drive 8 hours or more to scout it -- we need a little more info about where to go to have at least a reasonable chance of finding some birds.  Anyone willing to set this up?  Others interested in joining in if it happens?

The town of Olton has a two day hunt on opening weekend.  It is done through their Chamber of Commerce or Lyons club.  I think its like 150$ per person you bring your group and they supply the guide and lunch.

HAPPY Howdy! Floyd County have eighteen places listed for public hunting of quail and pheasant. All are located near Floydada and Lockney, TX. Quail may be hunted Oct 17-31, Nov 17-21, Dec 10-14, Jan 12-16. Pheasant may be hunted Dec 1-30, 2007. The only overlap for hunting both quail and pheasant is Dec 10-14. Hunters must have the APH permit. It is best to hunt with dogs because I have heard from sources that hunting without dogs will not be very successful. I will certainly consider hunting with others as a group, but I have no dogs to bring. Thanks!
