This is one heck of a place and very well managed!

Please be very careful of this guy Robert Mallett. I had a couple of buddies on this lease and he screwed them like a house cat. He charges more money than the landowners get so that he can pay for his spot, his boy's spot and all of their feed. This guy is a bigger crook than his nephew Jeff Mallett.

Bandelero-It is apparant you don't know what you're talking about.  You have no idea what I pay for that lease nor the expenses involved.  As far as my boy getting his way paid or our feed, you are completely mistaken and way out of line.  Lease member (such as your two "buddies") come and go for various reasons-but there are several members on this ranch who have been there for years, so why haven't they left if they think they have been screwed.  It is easy for someone such as your self to hide behind a "username" and make comment such as you have with no recouse or truth behind it.  Most people don't pay attentions to small minds such as yours.

Bandelaro, I can not confirm everything you have said and I do not know where you have received your information but you are close. I hunted with Robert Mallett last year and they do have some pretty good deer on the place. I was asked to hunt on a 7000 acre pasture called the Charo Pasture but it did not have a camp house, water, and electricity. The agreement between Robert Mallett and I were that we were to stay in the main ranch camp house and follow the same rules as everyone else on the lease.  This was good enough for me to leave Texas and invite 2 of my friends to share the lease cost of $9,000 dollars. We spent a ton of money and a bunch of time working on the place for the 2009 hunting season. We killed 3 management deer scoring 116 B&C 125 B&C and 138 B&C. We also killed 1 trophy scoring 148 B&C. After season was over we filled all of the feeders and protein feeders ahead of the lease mandate of when we had to start protein and this cost us about $1,500 dollars. Two weeks after this Robert Mallett called us on the phone and told us we no longer had a place to stay in the camp house because the other members were complaining about having enough room at the house. Everyone had plenty of room and I called and talked with other members and they confirmed that this was not the case. I also spoke to the rancher who owned the house and he said this was also not the case with him as well. I am very upset we were made to believe we had a place to stay and hunt for as long as we wanted, when that was a lie. I talked with both my rancher and the main rancher and they were only aware of us paying $6,000 dollars to hunt the Charo Pasture. I do not know what Robert Mallett did with the money but he did not give any of the money to the ranchers or the other lease members. You mentioned his nephew Jeff Mallett and I do not know the man personally but can tell you that the lease members did not have anything good to say about the man and I can see it runs in the family. I personally will never hunt with Robert Mallett ever again in the future. I am still hunting in Mexico and it is with other long time members of this ranch that did not care for the way Robert Mallett was running the lease. I can also tell you that they have a big hunter turnover on this ranch and I now know why. If anyone wants to know more please feel free to give me a call and I would be glad to discuss this in more length.

Mr.Broussard needs to get his facts staight he was NEVER told he could not hunt his pature any more, just that he could not stay in the camphouse on our pature. Robert wanted to him to make his own deal with the land owner. Mr. Broussard also needs to remember that Robert let his daughter harvest a 25" 148" management buck from our pasture. As for the long term disgrunteld hunters, one which was Robert's best friend killed a 160" 44" mass buck last year and an 170" 38" mass buck this year on top of letting his son kill a 146" 3.5 year old 10 pt. with 36" of mass.  Wish I could be so disgrunteld. As for my friend he got a burr up his butt and wanted to move,I hate it but that is the way it is sometimes. You have 15-17 hunters who think they are all game biologist and know how to do it better. Anyone who has managed a ranch with this many people know what I am talking about. A lot of these disgrunteld hunters have leased adjacents pastures only to be gone in a year or two. Robert has been managing this ranch since 1996 and he is still there and we are taking some incredible bucks. Through hard work lots of money and time we have built a quality hunting lease. LANCE PUSLEY

Author:troy1 Comment Left:04/02/2010 14:22

Lance, I have all my facts straight and without a place to stay we did not have an option to make our own deal with the rancher. The only reason we even agreed to hunt this pasture was because you and Robert made us an offer to be part of the group and for us to stay in the camp house with everyone. I also never said the deer hunting was anything but good. I thought the hunting was great and was very happy hunting in Sabinas. I also did not mention that my daughter shot a management buck on your pasture because this was about my pasture and our situation. Now that you have mentioned that I can say that that deal took place between Robert and another hunter after to much alcohol. My daughter should have never killed this deer at this person’s stand that they did not have permission to be hunting. This was Roberts deal not mine, my daughter was there too shoot a deer on my 7000 acres not your pasture. I see you did not even try to dispute the stolen $3,000 dollars he made off our pasture. I have also listened to several of you, including you trash talk Robert Mallett and how he was screwing you on the lease money. As far as the Biologist comment, it did not matter because we had rules and they were not followed. This was the reason for all of the bitching and arguing at the camp house all of the time about the management program. It is hard to enforce the rules when the people making the rules do not even follow the rules. The problem was not Disgruntled Hunters but hunters tired of the crap. Why would someone who you claim to be Roberts best friend and killed such good deer want to leave this place? I do have my facts straight Lance Pusley and I will never comment on nothing but the facts. I have nothing to hide, what about you? I will not comment anymore on this page but if you would like to talk with me you can call me on the phone and you have my number.

Again Mr.Broussard is way off base. Indeed some of the rules were not followed but some of your hunters were the one's that broke them along with one notable so called friend of Robert's. As for the 3000 grand Robert used some of it for electricty which I beleive and then to pay for the difference in Rodney Bebe's balance whom passed away before season so we would not have to come up with extra money. As far as trash talking Robert and I have had numerous disagrements through 15 plus years of friendship and yes we get after it sometimes but we put our problems behind and go on. By the way where are the 10 bags cottonseed you borrowed two months before the season and never repaid and my small boat that you used but didn't have the respect to put at the bodega. I'll see you at the lease. Lance Pusley
