Edgefield, SC -

The Quail Unlimited Board of Directors announced Monday that they had accepted the resignation of President Rocky Evans. They expressed their deepest appreciation for his years of service and leadership of the organization. Evans was one of the co-founders and had served as one of its leaders since 1981. In a statement following the announcement of his retirement he stated, “It is time to pass the baton and begin to enjoy more time with my family and with Dave, my black lab, who definitely will enjoy more time afield with me. Every point of my being was dedicated to QU. Now is the time for QU to get a fresh view and bring in the next generation to lead the organization." In a unanimous vote by the board, Craig A. Alderman, the Director of Marketing for QU since 2006, who has brought about the largest increase of corporate sponsorships in the company's history, has been appointed the new president and has accepted the challenge of leading the organization.

Alderman commented, "I have big shoes to fill. Rocky, along with Jerry Allen, created a structure of wildlife recovery for the wild quail and upland game that is second to none, and it is working." Craig continued, "Our challenge now is to capture the essence of our core abilities and our local chapters and state councils and to set a new future together. We have seen monumental accomplishments because of Quail Unlimited and Rocky's efforts, and it is now my job to grow the success and build it to the next level. We have an excellent business model and team in place to get the job done, and they are willing to accept the challenges of our current economy. I look forward to the immense opportunity of working with our chapters," Alderman concluded.

QU, through its dedicated chapter members coast to coast, is leading the charge to restore the natural habitat of wild quail and upland game by working with private landowners as well as state and federal agencies across the country with unprecedented partnerships. By putting on local events and fundraisers, QU chapters raise conservation dollars that are then used for on-the-ground projects in their area to enhance wildlife habitat.

Evans will continue to bring his experience to the organization, as needed, as a consultant. Rocky invested 28 years in Quail Unlimited, and it has grown to the largest wild quail conservation organization in the country.

Quail Unlimited (QU) is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the restoration of habitat for wild quail and upland wildlife. Its almost 300 chapters nationwide raise local project dollars for on-the-ground projects, including private and public land management, with banquets, auctions, sporting clay events and more. QU has a highly trained staff of biologists, state and regional directors and dedicated members that work with private landowners and state and federal agencies to restore quail and upland game populations. In the last five years, Quail Unlimited chapters and partners have invested over $23.3 million dollars in quail and upland game habitat through their expenditures and improvements.
