Texas -

The accomplishments of quail stewardship, quail habitat restoration, and lifetime achievement in quail management in Texas were honored Thursday by over 450 attendees at the Texas Wildlife Association Foundation Quail Conservation Awards and Gala in Houston.

Joe Coleman of Houston and A.V. Jones Jr. of Albany were each recognized with the TWAF Alfred C. Glassell Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award in Quail Management.

The event also recognized finalists and a winner in three Quail Stewardship categories and finalists and a winner in two Quail Habitat Restoration categories.

The winners announced at the event were: Quail Stewardship ? Snipes Ranch (Northern Region), Las Dos Palomas Ranch (Southern Region), and Hammond Ranch (Desert Region). Quail Habitat Restoration ? Gato Montes Ranch (Private Lands) and Wildlife Habitat Federation (Cooperatives).

The evening also included a successful live auction of 19 special or one-of-a kind items. Funds generated by the Gala and auction will be used by TWAF for youth education, quail programs and conservation initiatives in Texas. A special "thank you" to all of the attendees for their outstanding support!
