Outdoorsman’s Contributions Have Been ImmenseWritten on: 03/06/2011 by: Dallas Woods & Waters Club
Dallas -
When Ray Murski bought a Bosque County ranch in 1985, there were at least 16 coveys of quail on the place. It’s been three years since Murski, a successful sporting good salesman, saw a quail at his Flint Creek Ranch. Moreover, the birds are gone from Johnson County where, 20 years ago, Murski, his brother and friends had ac-cess to dozens of ranches that all had healthy bobwhite populations. "We only hunted in the afternoons and there were birds everywhere," recalled Murski. "We could usually count on moving eight to 10 coveys in an afternoon. There may not be 10 coveys right now on all those place combined. I don’t know what’s happening to our quail but we have to get them turned around before it’s too late." That’s the purpose of the Park Cities Quail 2011 Annual Dinner and Auction March 10 at the Frontiers of Flight Museum, 6811 Lemmon Avenue, Dallas. Murski will receive the T. Boone Pickens Lifetime Sportsman Award. CLICK HERE for Full Story in the Dallas Woods and Waters Newsletter Comments: |
