Texas Deer Association Promotes Affordable Hunting at Bass Pro Shops

Recreational Fishing Alliance begins deploying Jack Cowan Reef near Freeport

Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA) today began deploying the Jack Cowan Reef off of Freeport Texas.     Named for famed Texas outdoor artist John P. (Jack) Cowan, the reef is located about 8 miles offshore in Texas state waters on a bearing of 213 degrees from the Freeport jetties.

Brownwood Hunter Makes 65th Consecutive Opening Day Hunt

James Hallum of Brownwood was in the field on opening day on Tuesday for the 65th consecutive year.  Although the 75-year-old gentleman doesn't remember how many birds he killed when he first hunted on opening day in 1944, Steve Knight of the Tyler Morning Telegraph says Hallum on Tuesday brought home a half-dozen birds from his morning hunt.
