CORAL SNAKE
Category: Native Animal

This is one big Coral Snake, and unfortunately, this is not at the ranch, it is in our backyard. My grandkids were about to go out in the backyard when my son spotted it. It was just laying there, basking in the sun while my son measured it. He ended up becoming a hat band.

whats the saying that goes with these snakes, red and yellow scare a fellow, red and black, get back jack?

The way I remember it is black touch yellow will kill a fellow, black touch red, no need to dread.

Bye the way, in answer to a picture of the hat band, I wish I could, but a little imp by the name of Taz (Koltie, see other pictures) got a hold of it, and like I have said before, that boy can tear up an anvil, so he shredded the hat band.

Well, the hat band would have been a disappointment in the long run.  It has been my experience that coral snake skins fade pretty quickly.  The saying I have heard is "Red & Yellow kill a fellow, red and black venom lack" but all you really have to remember is the red and yellow kill a fellow part.  If it's not red and yellow, it is not dangerous.

Red and yellow kill a fellow, red and black friend of jack.
