Texas InterestSummary:
Allen, I have posted a copy of the hunting and fishing packages that you offer, which are well priced. I would put together a well done information board to place in business like the Tye Truck Stop plus outdoor, firearm business, feed stores and wild life expos in Abilene and San Angelo. TexasHuntFish could put together a nice CD that could be played on a small TV set at many local business that attract the same type of customers that you want. When I go to Cabela's and there is a CD playing on a screen, I always stop and watch wishing that I was there. In running a business, I personally would go for fewer people with deeper pockets than for more people with shallow pockets. I would want fewer people out and about disturbing my game. There is a growing number of once upon a time hunters that now just want to get out and look like their hunting while really just enjoying nature. They have grown soft living in the big cities and they enjoy nature. They have no intention of shooting an animal, many of these will make a "bad" shot just to save face and tell about the nice one that got away. These guys are good too. So again, good luck and I'm interested to see what suggestions others have to offer you.
What are your top five animals.Summary:
My plan is as follows: Hunt with rifle/scope, rifle open site, pistol, .12 gauge, crossbow, and one day, when my back is better, using a recurve or long bow Mission #1: Texas Native Species (Past and Present): Elk, mount a Bobcat with a quail, mount a coyote with a rabbit, mount a fox with snake, various ducks, big fat largemouth bass mounted on my grandmother's stringer, GATOR, and variety of common texas saltwater fish. I keep on going back and forth whether I want to hunt a Black Bear. Texas Exotics: Axis, Blackbuck, Fallow, Oryx, Corsican, Mouflon, Aoudad, maybe even a Kudu, and a great big boar skull mount with tusks Once I shoot each of these animals using each of the methods above, I will think about leaving Texas (when I say Texas, I admit I include a 300 mile buffer around Texas into surrounding areas. Texas just isn't big enough yet). Maybe, one day, I will hunt a Cape Buffalo and crocodile in Africa. I would also consider hunting some of the exotics I hunted in Texas, but in their native habitat. By then my son will need to carry me on his back to hunt and my daughters will have to steady me when I shoot because I should be about 105 years old. Seriously considering Lake MeredithSummary: Allen, to answer some of you questions...ATVs in designated areas only. The area is 45,000 acres total but I think that includes the lake. The lake is the best Walleye lake in Texas. The Duck and Goose hunting is supposed to be awesome. There should be some quail and pheasant on the area. It should be a great trip but I think the rifle season with the cooler temps and available bird and waterfoul hunting would be better and nicer for camping purposes. I saw nothing about hogs but it is the only public Muledeer hunting in Texas. I suggest a good pair of binos or a spotting scope if you have it for spot and stalk hunting. Lets go get em!
holographic sights for turkeysSummary: I have a Savage 24 - a .223 over a 12 guage for turkey hunting. The reason I bought it was for those times when the gobbler doesn't want to go to the decoys and hangs up just outside of shotgun range. I originally bought a Simmons red dot scope for it but, after about 50 rounds just can't get the...
